Studio 5

March 2023 – June 2023

Studio 5
was our student-led and organised Graduation Showcase, a dynamic exhibition that captured the essence of our artistic cohort. Our mission was to create an exhibition that represented our cohort’s work in a fair way while fostering a sense of unity among students. By taking charge of every aspect – from fundraising and curation to communication and catalogue design – we transformed our vision into a reality.

As a core member of the curation team, my work was multi-faceted. I was able to help out and show up in many different ways, be it by taking part in early brainstorming sessions, helping plan out our process and come up with strategies, taking on more responsibilites as a treasurer and as a lead designer.

This project allowed me to explore many disciplines. I was able to get into graphic design by working on our show’s visual identity with a fellow student. We were able to quickly figure out fonts, colours and shapes that would fit both the Illustration & Animation and the Graphic Design cohort.
I also dipped my toes into copywriting, writing all the signage for the show as well as the blurbs presented at the entrance of the exhibition rooms.

Tests for the visual identity

Working on Studio 5 was an invaluable learning experience. It provided a platform for honing interpersonal skills, teaching me the art of harmonizing diverse groups, juggling multiple responsibilities, projects, and deadlines. I got to delve into disciplines I wasn’t very familiar with in the beginning such as graphic design and social media content creation and grow an appreciation for them. I also learned first hand the work that was necessary to put into curating a successful exhibition and what it means to work as a team.
